Musik gehört seit meiner frühen Jugend zu den wichtigsten Bestandteilen meines Lebens. Mit der Entdeckung der Leidenschaft zur elektronischen Musik kam schnell der Wunsch auf, auch so ein faszinierendes Instrument zu besitzen. Mit meinen ersten Lehrgeldern erwarb ich mit 16 meinen ersten Synth. Einen Kawai 100F.
Jedoch durch die Turbulenzen meines Lebens trat das aktive Musizieren in den Hintergrund. Erst in den letzten Jahren entdeckte ich es wieder für mich. Natürlich spiegelt sich hier die Liebe zum Ruhrgebiet insbesondere zu den Kokereien, ganz besonders der Thyssen-Kokereien, wider. Der Standort am Rhein. Der traditionsreiche Geschichte dieser Werke...
bisweilen interessant verknüpft mit einer meiner weiteren Leidenschaften: Astronomie und Science Fiction.

Hochofen A - whose industrial setting so impressed me as a child. Always audible ­ from the temporarily reddened evening sky during the tapping of the pig iron to all the sounds and signals that could be heard even at home. Until it was gone... Blast Furnace A is a musical journey in a minor key, describing the 20 years of its operation in Oberhausen. The track, with synthesizer pads as the main instrumentation, recounts the construction of one of the most modern blast furnaces, the operation of the 90-meter-high steel giant, which secured many jobs, until its decommissioning as a consequence of the structural steel crisis. It concludes with the demolition of the blast furnace by explosives (1980).

The heart of a coking plant's by-product plant: vertical scrubbers made of alloyed steel. They extract hydrogen sulfide and ammonia from the raw gas stream - chemically bound, physically filtered - the sulfammon process. A network of pipelines, bridges, and I&C elements. An almost living structure - a pulsating system - the sound: metallic, rhythmic, precise. Technology becomes music. Gas treatment processes becomes rhythm.

This track describes the demanding work in a rolling mill. A malfunction causes a shutdown, and the workers have to fix it. Stuck screws have to be loosened with hammers. With their hard work, they get production back on track.
